Aaliyah
Aaliyah is an actor, born 1979.
Aaliyah was an American singer and actress, born in Brooklyn in 1979 and raised in Detroit, who released her first album at fourteen. Her second, produced largely by Timbaland and Missy Elliott, reshaped R&B: the rhythms became stuttering and spacious and the vocals sat back in the mix rather than over it, and much of the genre followed for a decade afterwards. She had begun an acting career when she was killed in a plane crash in the Bahamas in 2001, at twenty-two.

Where to start with Aaliyah
One in a Million is the essential one and the record that changed what R&B sounded like. Aaliyah is the self-titled third album and the most complete. Age Ain’t Nothing but a Number is the debut, and Romeo Must Die is the film role, which produced Try Again.
