Alex MacNicoll
Alex MacNicoll is an actor, born 1990.
MacNicoll has spent his career in the American young-ensemble lane, the one running from sports drama to streaming mystery, and he has worked in it steadily since his teens. McFarland, USA (2015) and My All American (2015) came first, both true-story sports films, followed by Flintstone in The 5th Wave (2016) and a recurring run as Colton on Transparent, a show with an entirely different set of manners.
He gets cast for a look and then used against it. He reads as the confident, clean-cut American boy, and the interesting parts all put something wrong underneath that: Donnie Tison in Last Rampage, the teenage Dick Cheney in the early stretch of Vice, Kevin in Unpregnant, Sam Fontaine in A-X-L.
The leading work has come on television. Luke in The Society (2019), Netflix's teenagers-without-adults mystery, was the first real showcase, and Dr. Van Markus on the NBC medical drama Brilliant Minds (2024 to 2026) is the ongoing one, with Cody in Bad Monkey (2024) alongside it.
It is a working actor's filmography rather than a star's, and it is more varied than a glance suggests: a medieval action film (The Rising Hawk), a musical remake (Valley Girl), a college sports drama (Heart of Champions).

Where to start with Alex MacNicoll
Of everything listed here, only The Society hands him a genuine lead inside an ensemble worth the name, so start there. Luke is written as the decent one, which is considerably harder to play than the difficult one.
Brilliant Minds is the current job and the more conventional showcase, network medicine with a strong cast around him.
For the range argument, Vice is brief and worth it: he has to be recognizably the younger version of the man the whole film is about. Transparent puts him in a much smarter show than most of his filmography. Unpregnant and McFarland, USA are the pleasant ones, Last Rampage the bleak one, and Bad Monkey the loosest.
