Billy Barratt

Born in Brixton in 2007, Barratt has been working since he was small, which in his case has produced an unusually severe filmography for someone his age. The early credits are what you would expect: Arthur Tudor in The White Princess, a street urchin in Mary Poppins Returns, a young Matt in Blinded by the Light, an appearance in Sharknado 5.

Then came the television film Responsible Child in 2019, for which he won the International Emmy for Best Actor at the age of thirteen. That is the performance that reset what he was offered.

Since then he has been the child in the middle of other people's catastrophes. Caspar Morrow in the Apple TV series Invasion is the emotional load-bearing part of a show otherwise spread thin across continents. Crater and My Spy The Eternal City are the lighter, studio-shaped assignments. Kraven the Hunter used him as a young Dmitri.

Bring Her Back in 2025 is the serious one. The Philippou brothers cast him as Andy, and the film asks him to hold long stretches of dread with very little to play against, which is a real test at any age. He is one of the few child actors of this generation whose adult career reads as a genuinely open question rather than a formality, mostly because the work so far has been unsentimental about what children can be asked to carry.
