Brad Paisley

Paisley's first success came as a songwriter, with David Kersh's Another You in 1997, a year before Arista Nashville signed him and two before Who Needs Pictures made him an artist in his own right. Born in Glen Dale, West Virginia in 1972, he released twelve studio albums for that label up to its closure in 2023, then moved to EMI Nashville. Mud on the Tires in 2003 and Time Well Wasted in 2005 are the commercial peaks, both certified double platinum.

He is a guitar player first, which separates him from most of his Nashville generation. The records are built around electric playing that is fast, clean and slightly show-offy, and the songwriting alternates between broad comedy and unguarded sentiment, sometimes inside the same album side. That combination is harder to hold than he makes it look, and when it slips, it slips toward the novelty end.

The credits gathered on this page are the screen half of that career rather than the music: talk shows, awards nights, a sitcom guest turn as a character named Chad, animated voice work, and a run of Christmas and Opry specials.
