Bresha Webb
Bresha Webb is an actor, born 1984.
Webb is from Baltimore and worked her way in through television, with guest parts on Raising the Bar and Hung before she landed the lead in the TV One comedy Love That Girl!, which ran from 2010 to 2014. That series is not among the credits listed here, but it is the reason she spent the following decade as a known quantity in Black comedy.
The film work sits mostly in Tyler Perry and Kevin Hart territory: Shayla in Ride Along 2, Denise in Night School, Young Brenda in Acrimony, Jasmine in A Fall from Grace, Allie in Meet the Blacks and again in The House Next Door. These are supporting roles written thin, and Webb's trick is to turn up with a complete person already assembled, an attitude and a walk and a set of opinions the script never bothered to write down. She gets laughs out of reaction shots that were not designed to carry any.
Television has used her better. Yvette on Marlon and Faith on The Last O.G. gave her scenes with a shape to them, and Renee Ross on the Starz comedy Run the World, which ran from 2021 to 2023, finally made her one of the leads in an ensemble of adults rather than the friend in the doorway. Add the voice of CeCe on The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder and a turn as Mary J. Blige on Sherman's Showcase, and the range on display is plainly wider than the film offers have asked for.

Where to start with Bresha Webb
Run the World is the honest starting point, because it is the only credit here that treats her as a lead rather than a spike of energy in somebody else's scene. Renee is written as a whole adult, and Webb plays the confidence and the insecurity in the same breath without softening either.
After that, The Last O.G. and Marlon are the sitcom work worth your time, and Acrimony is the outlier: straight melodrama, no jokes, and she holds it. For the studio comedies, Night School uses her best and Ride Along 2 barely uses her at all. Meet the Blacks is where that comedy franchise starts if you want the whole thing, and The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder is the voice work.
