Cindy Herron
Cindy Herron is a founding member of En Vogue, and everything else in her career runs off that engine. She sang lead on the group's first single, Hold On, and she and Terry Ellis are the two original members present on every album the group has released, despite periods when she was away from it. She has sometimes been credited as Cindy Herron-Braggs.
The acting actually came first, in the 1980s, beginning with a role in Up and Coming, and it has continued in the margins ever since. The credits listed here are the sort a working musician picks up: Yolanda in Juice, Ernest Dickerson's film and the one that turned Tupac Shakur into a screen actor; a street corner in Batman Forever; En Vogue appearing as themselves on Roc; Shannon on the sitcom On Our Own; a turn in Elmopalooza with the Sesame Street cast. Juice is the only one of them that asks her to act rather than to appear, and she is convincingly ordinary in it, which is harder than it sounds for someone the audience recognises from a video.

Where to start with Cindy Herron
Juice is the one to see, and it would be worth your time even if she were not in it. She plays a young woman with her own plans in a film about four friends whose plans go badly, and the grounding she gives those scenes is a large part of why the rest lands.
After that the pickings are thin and you should know that going in. Roc and On Our Own are the sitcom appearances of a pop group at its commercial peak, Batman Forever is a blink, and Sesame Street: Elmopalooza! is the one to put on for a child. The music is where her real work is.
