Daisuke Namikawa
Daisuke Namikawa is an actor, born 1976.
Daisuke Namikawa was born in Tokyo in 1976 and began acting as a child, which is unusual in Japanese voice work and audible in the technique: he was a performer before he was a voice. He is associated with the agency Stay Luck and also works as a singer. He is also, persistently, confused with Daisuke Hirakawa, whose name differs from his by a single kanji.
The standard description of him, including the one on his own Wikipedia page, is that he plays young, kind heroes. Look at what he has actually been cast as over the last fifteen years and that description falls apart. Hisoka in Hunter x Hunter, a giggling sadist whose voice keeps sliding up into pleasure at the wrong moments. Kishou Arima in Tokyo Ghoul, who barely inflects at all. Jack the Ripper in Black Clover. Choso in Jujutsu Kaisen. The kind-hero roles are real, and Gilbert in Violet Evergarden and Rock in Black Lagoon are exactly that, but the parts that stuck are the unsettling ones.
What he is genuinely rare at is calm menace. Most voice actors signal a villain by dropping into a growl. Namikawa keeps the pleasant register and lets the content of the line do the work, so the character sounds reasonable and is not.
The catalogue is enormous, past two hundred and fifty credits, and it includes both halves of one character across two series: the young magus of Fate/Zero and the same man grown into Lord El-Melloi II in Unlimited Blade Works.

Where to start with Daisuke Namikawa
Go straight to Hunter x Hunter. Hisoka is the role that made his reputation outside Japan and it is a piece of pitch control: the voice stays light and amused while the character is doing something appalling, and the gap between the two is the entire performance.
Tokyo Ghoul is the opposite approach and the better thing to hear second. As Arima he flattens everything out until the absence of feeling becomes the threat.
For the warm register the source material keeps insisting is his default, Violet Evergarden is the gentlest work he has done, and Black Lagoon hands him a full lead as an ordinary office worker out of his depth, which is the most human thing in his catalogue.
Then pick by taste. Haikyu!! casts him as a preening volleyball setter and is very funny. JUJUTSU KAISEN and Black Clover are the modern shonen showcases, and Fairy Tail is the long-running role his older fans know him by.
The villains and the unsettling roles
The half of his work that runs against the obvious casting. Hisoka in Hunter x Hunter is the clearest example: the menace comes entirely from how pleasant the voice stays. Ulquiorra in Bleach uses the same trick with no affect at all.
The gentle heroes
The register he is usually hired for, and Violet Evergarden is the best of it. These are quieter shows where the voice carries warmth rather than plot, and From Me to You is the purest example of the type.
The current mainstream anime
Namikawa is in most of the large recent series, usually in a supporting role carrying more weight than its screen time suggests. Haikyu and Jujutsu Kaisen are the two with the widest audience right now.
