Dale Carnegie

Dale Carnegie is an author.

Dale Carnegie was born into poverty on a Missouri farm and built a career teaching people to speak in public, to sell, and to get along with each other. How to Win Friends and Influence People, published in 1936, was a bestseller that has never gone out of print and still sells in more or less its original form. His method was anecdotal rather than theoretical: a rule, a story about someone who followed it, a story about someone who did not. He also wrote How to Stop Worrying and Start Living in 1948 and a life of Lincoln in 1932, and his name survives as a training company as well as an author's.

Where to start with Dale Carnegie

How to Win Friends and Influence People is the only one most people need, and it is better than its reputation: short chapters, blunt rules, and a real argument that attention to other people is a skill rather than a trick. How to Stop Worrying and Start Living is the useful sequel. The Art of Public Speaking is the technical one, and Lincoln, El Desconocido/ Lincoln the Unknown (Biografias Y Testimonios) shows him trying, without much success, to be a biographer.
