Dean Geyer
Dean Geyer is an actor, born 1986.
An Australian Idol third place in 2006 is not usually a springboard into American network television, but that is the route Geyer took. Born in Johannesburg in 1986 and South African Australian since, he came out of the talent-show pipeline as a singer-songwriter and converted it into acting work, most visibly on the soap Neighbours as Ty Harper, a role not among the credits listed here.
American television took him next. He played Mark Reynolds in Terra Nova, the expensive and short-lived dinosaur series, then joined Glee in its fourth season as Brody Weston, a NYADA student and one of the show's late-run romantic complications. Both parts made the same use of him: a physically imposing, musically capable presence who could be dropped into an established ensemble without needing much setup.
The film work has stayed in genre. He is Mike Stokes in Never Back Down 2: The Beatdown, which puts a trained martial artist into a fighting picture, Jonah in the horror film The Sand, Daniel in Landmine Goes Click, and Ben Kirke in the 2024 seasonal romance A Little Women's Christmas. Nick Davis in Shades of Blue and James in Casual round out the television.

Where to start with Dean Geyer
Two shows account for most of the reason anybody knows him, and the less famous one is the better watch. Terra Nova is a lavish, doomed science fiction series about a colony planted in the deep past, cancelled after a single season and considerably more enjoyable than its reputation allows.
Glee is the wider door, though his stretch sits deep in the fourth season, well past the point where most viewers stopped. He is good in it and the singing is real. Landmine Goes Click is the serious one, a nasty and effective thriller unlike anything else here. The Sand is a cheap creature feature with a decent hook, Never Back Down 2: The Beatdown is the fight film, and A Little Women's Christmas is exactly the December television movie it sounds like. Shades of Blue is worth a look for the cast around him.
