Deni Gordon
Deni Gordon is an actor.
Deni Gordon came to Australia in 1969 for a musical and stayed. Born in Boston to African American parents, she was cast in Hair alongside her friend and fellow cast member Marcia Hines, and built a performing career in Australia from there: singing and dancing in the ABC sketch series The Dingo Principle, a guest turn in the soap Sons and Daughters in 1987, and a regular role as the teacher Ronnie Brooks in the fourth and fifth seasons of Heartbreak High.
Her most widely seen work is a small part in a very large film. She played the Priestess in The Matrix, appeared as a priestess again in a 1999 episode of Farscape, and before that turned up as a cellmate in the 1992 science fiction film Fortress. Three screen credits are listed here, which undersells a stage and television life that ran for decades.

Where to start with Deni Gordon
Three credits here, and the obvious one is The Matrix. Take Heartbreak High instead if you want to see what she could do with an actual part: Ronnie Brooks was a regular role across two seasons of an Australian teen drama that took its school, and its students, seriously. Fortress is the odd one out, a grim prison science fiction picture with a bit part worth spotting on a rewatch and no more than that.
