Jamie Parker is an actor, born 1979.
Jamie Parker's best-known performance is one you cannot stream. He played Harry Potter in the original West End and Broadway productions of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, won a Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actor in a Play for it, and was nominated for a Tony. That is the center of the career, and the screen credits sit around it as a supporting collection.
Born in Middlesbrough in 1979, he is an actor and a singer, and the singing counts for more here than it usually would: his 2025 credit is Dan Goodman in Next to Normal, a role that is almost entirely sung and needs someone who can act while doing it.
On film he is Scripps in The History Boys, still the closest a screen role has come to using him properly, followed by a series of well-cast supporting parts in prestige productions: Werner von Haeften in Valkyrie, an estate agent in The Lady in the Van, Lieutenant Richards in 1917. On television he has been Dennis Kohler in Treadstone and John Dudley in Becoming Elizabeth. Where to start with Jamie Parker
You will not find his best work on a screen, so adjust expectations first: the Cursed Child performance that won him an Olivier exists in no catalogue anywhere.
Given that, The History Boys is the place to start. It is an ensemble film adapted from an ensemble play, Parker plays Scripps, the group's observer, and the whole cast is working in a register they had already found together on stage. It is also the only screen credit here that really gives him room.
1917 and Valkyrie are the two big war films, and in both he is doing precise, unshowy work at the edge of a very large machine. Next to Normal is the one for the singing, a musical about a family living around an illness, and it is the closest a camera has come to what he actually does for a living. Becoming Elizabeth is the best of the television, and The Lady in the Van is a brief sighting for the devoted.
