Jimmy Shubert is an actor.
Stand-up is the main job. Jimmy Shubert came out of Philadelphia and settled in Los Angeles, was part of the circle of comics around Sam Kinison known as the Outlaws of Comedy, and reached the final of Last Comic Standing in 2014. Screen acting has been the side business, and the roles reflect that honestly.
He gets one scene and a job title. A detective in The Italian Job, a soccer coach in One Hour Photo, Victor Jr. in Go, Bob in Room 6. On television he played Jimmy on The King of Queens, and he has appeared on Entourage and ER, neither of which is among the credits listed here. It is a specific kind of casting: a director wants a working comic's timing and a face that reads as somebody who has a job, and wants it inside two minutes of screen time.
None of that is a complaint about the work. A film like Go needs a dozen people who feel as though they existed before the camera arrived, and he is reliably one of them.

Where to start with Jimmy Shubert
Go is the one to watch, and not only because Victor Jr. is his largest part here. The film runs on a big cast of small, sharply drawn people, which is exactly the environment where a stand-up can shine, and he holds his own against actors with far more screen time.
After that, One Hour Photo and The Italian Job are quick sightings inside much bigger films, a soccer coach in one and a detective in the other, both doing the thing a good bit-part actor does, which is make the world look inhabited.
The King of Queens is the sitcom credit and the friendliest place to hear his actual comic rhythm on screen. Room 6 and American Nightmares are for people who want the complete list, and neither will change your mind about him. The stand-up is the main event, and it lives outside this page.
