JoJo
The record came first. JoJo, born Joanna Noelle Levesque, was a child singer working competitions and local talent shows when the producer Vincent Herbert saw her on America's Most Talented Kids in 2003 and asked her to audition for Blackground Records. Her self-titled debut arrived in 2004, reached number four on the Billboard 200, went platinum, and has sold over four million copies worldwide.
The screen work is a short chapter attached to that, two films released in 2006 while the pop career was at its loudest. She played Hailey in Aquamarine and Cassie in RV, the second a broad family comedy in which she is essentially the sullen teenage weather system. Neither part suggests she was chasing a film career, and she has not built one since. What is left on this page is mostly the singer appearing as herself, on Top of the Pops Saturday and, much later, as a panel expert on The Wheel.

Where to start with JoJo
There are two films and both are from 2006, so this is a short recommendation. Aquamarine is the one to watch, a sweet and silly mermaid comedy aimed squarely at twelve-year-olds, and she is genuinely good in it, playing the friend rather than the star.
RV is the other, a family road comedy where her job is to sulk in the back seat, competently. After that you are into archive: Top of the Pops Saturday catches her in the pop-star years and The Wheel is a recent game-show turn. For the actual body of work, go and listen to the records.
