Jorja Fox is an actor, born 1968.
Two recurring parts on network drama got Jorja Fox into the room. She played Dr. Maggie Doyle on ER from 1996 to 1999, then Secret Service agent Gina Toscano on The West Wing in 2000. Before either of those she had a run on the early-nineties drama Missing Persons as Connie Karadzic.
The part that took over the rest of her career was Sara Sidle on CSI: Crime Scene Investigation was written as the show's conscience, and Fox played her without ever asking to be liked for it: clipped, faintly impatient, more interested in the evidence than in whoever is standing in the room. She was a regular for most of the run and a recurring presence between 2008 and 2010, then came back again when CBS revived the franchise as CSI: Vegas in October 2021. Twenty years inside one character is an unusual shape for a career, and the notable thing is how little she softened the woman to fill it.
Away from the lab her choices have been small and deliberate rather than commercial. She is Leonard's wife in Memento, a role assembled almost entirely out of other people's fragments, which is a hard assignment and she makes it land. She turned up on Drop Dead Diva as Marianne Neely, played a mother in The Map of Tiny Perfect Things, and took command of a small science fiction picture, 3022, as Captain Diane Ursula. It is not a large filmography. It is a specific one.

Where to start with Jorja Fox
The obvious door is CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, and it is the right one, though the show rewards a targeted approach: find an hour built around Sara rather than a random case of the week, because Fox is at her best when the case is personal and she is visibly angry about it. For the same character two decades on, CSI: Vegas offers an older, quieter Sidle with less to prove.
For the version of her that has nothing to do with forensics, Memento is the sharpest use anyone has made of her. She gets a handful of scenes, all of them filtered through a narrator who cannot be trusted, and she still registers as a person instead of a device. 3022 is the deep cut, a low-budget science fiction film that hands her a command and asks her to hold the frame. The Map of Tiny Perfect Things is the warmest thing here and a decent change of air after a career of crime scenes, and Drop Dead Diva is the one where she gets to be light.
