Juliana Harkavy
Juliana Harkavy is an actor, born 1985.
Harkavy took the long route. A child bit part in the 1995 A Little Princess, then years of work that does not make a Wikipedia paragraph, then Rebecca in Dolphin Tale, a family film about a rescued dolphin that did well enough to bring her back for the sequel.
Horror is what turned it. Last Shift handed her the lead in a small, mean, single-location film, and carrying something that unforgiving is the credit that changes an agent's phone calls. Alisha on The Walking Dead followed, though that role is not among the credits listed here.
Arrow is what she is known for now. She arrived on the CW series long after it began, as Dinah Drake, and became its Black Canary, inheriting a name two earlier characters had already carried in front of an audience deeply attached to both. That is an awkward thing to ask of an actor. Her answer was to play the part harder and lower than either predecessor: a police officer first, a costumed hero second, and visibly uninterested in being anyone's replacement.

Where to start with Juliana Harkavy
Watch Last Shift first, and it is not close. A rookie officer, a police station being decommissioned, one very long night: the film is cheap and knows exactly what to do with its budget, and Harkavy holds nearly every frame.
Arrow is the bigger commitment. Her Dinah Drake turns up a long way into the series, so the sane approach is to start where she does rather than from the pilot, unless you were always going to watch the whole thing anyway.
The two dolphin films are for a different household entirely, gentle and sincere, and Dolphin Tale is the one that works, with Dolphin Tale 2 repeating it more softly. A Little Princess belongs here as trivia, a childhood credit in a genuinely lovely film.
