Kacey Rohl
Kacey Rohl is an actor, born 1991.
Almost every part she has been handed asks the audience to decide whether to trust her, and Rohl refuses to make that decision for them. Born in Vancouver in 1991, she came up through Canadian television and television movies around 2010, taking single episodes of The Haunting Hour and small parts in things nobody remembers, before Red Riding Hood put her in a studio picture in 2011.
Two television roles made her name. Sterling Fitch on The Killing was the first, and Abigail Hobbs on Hannibal was the one that mattered: a survivor whose innocence the series keeps re-examining, written to keep the audience unbalanced, and Rohl plays her with a stillness that reads as shock or as calculation depending on the scene you are in. She followed it with Marina Andrieski on The Magicians, a magician expelled from the system and furious about it, and with Kerry Campbell in the second season of Wayward Pines.
White Lie in 2019 gave her the lead she had been circling: a student maintaining an enormous fabrication, filmed almost entirely at her eye level, and it brought a Canadian Screen Award nomination for Best Actress. Since then she has played Jean Seberg in White Dog, a young Rachel Garrett in Star Trek: Section 31, and turned up in Watson. The pattern is unusually consistent for someone this early on: she gets handed characters who are lying, and she never plays the lie.

Where to start with Kacey Rohl
Watch White Lie first; it is the argument for her, a small Canadian film that puts one sustained deception under a microscope and never cuts away to relieve the pressure. Hannibal is the famous credit and still the most interesting use of her, since Abigail Hobbs exists to keep the audience guessing and Rohl refuses to help. The Magicians is the fun one, with Marina supplying the show's best spite. Star Trek: Section 31 and Watson are the recent franchise jobs, neither a good measure of her. Go instead to White Dog for the Jean Seberg role, or Red Riding Hood if you want the studio gothic she came up through.
