Katherine Kiernan Maria Mulgrew is an American actress and author. She is best known for playing Captain Kathryn Janeway in Star Trek: Voyager (1995, 2001) and Red in Orange Is the New Black (2013, 2019). She first came to attention in the role of Mary Ryan in the daytime soap opera Ryan's Hope.
