Kazuhiko Inoue
Kazuhiko Inoue is an actor, born 1954.
Kazuhiko Inoue has been one of the defining voices in Japanese animation since the 1970s, when he played Anthony Brown in Candy Candy and Joe Shimamura in the 1979 version of Cyborg 009. Two generations later he is still working constantly, and to most of the current audience he is one thing above all: Kakashi Hatake, across Naruto, Naruto Shippuden, the films, and now Boruto, which adds up to roughly a quarter century in the same mask.
Kakashi explains the appeal. Inoue's default is a light, unhurried, faintly bored delivery that suggests a man who has already worked out how the fight ends and would rather be reading. He can drop that register into something much colder without changing volume, which is what makes the character's serious moments land. It is a rare trick. Most voice actors signal the gear change; he simply arrives in the new gear.
The range underneath is wider than the signature role suggests. Jerid Messa in Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam is a genuinely unpleasant young officer. Kars in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure is grand and theatrical. Toichiro Suzuki in Mob Psycho 100 is quiet menace, Gotou in Parasyte is inhuman calm, and Faraday in Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is a fixer whose politeness is the threat. He works steadily as a narrator and a singer as well, and he turns up in Makoto Shinkai films in small adult parts, including Taki's father in Your Name. Few performers with a run this long still sound this current.

Where to start with Kazuhiko Inoue
Almost everyone meets him through Naruto, and the early series remains the best argument for Kakashi: an adult who is competent, evasive and quietly carrying more than he admits. Naruto Shippūden deepens it considerably if you have patience for the length.
Away from that, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is the fastest way to hear what he can do now, ten episodes and a performance built entirely on courtesy, and Mob Psycho 100 gives him an antagonist with an actual philosophy. JoJo's Bizarre Adventure is the theatrical extreme and enormous fun.
For the quiet end, Parasyte -the maxim- uses his stillness better than anything else here, and Your Name. hands him a few ordinary domestic lines that a lesser actor would throw away. His Yoriichi in Demon Slayer is worth seeking out too, though it sits outside the credits listed on this page.
Kakashi and the Naruto films
Two decades in one role, across two series and a dozen films. Kakashi is the calm-mentor archetype and Inoue essentially defined how it sounds in Japanese. The Last is the film that gives the character the most to do outside of a fight scene.
Inoue cast against type
The same unhurried voice used for people you should not trust. Kars in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure is the clearest example, and Toichiro in Mob Psycho 100 is the most unsettling thing he has recorded. Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is the best of the recent work.
The long-running series and the classics
Fifty years of steady work, including both animated versions of Ranma. The Detective Conan films are the definition of a reliable annual paycheque, and Konosuba shows he can do broad comedy on request when a series asks for it.
