Kelly Packard

Kelly Packard is an actor, born 1975.

Packard came up inside the American teen sitcom machine of the early 1990s, with guest work on Blossom and Boy Meets World and a regular run as Tiffani Smith on California Dreams. Then Baywatch, where she played April Giminski, which in that decade was less a role than a job description: enormous global audience, minimal dialogue, no critical attention whatsoever.

She turned it into hosting, which is the smarter move and the one people underrate. Co-hosting Ripley's Believe It or Not! is the credit the record leads with, though it is not among the credits listed here, and this page does have her judging Pet Star and appearing on Fear Factor. Presenting rewards exactly what a sitcom regular has: warmth on camera, a fast read, and no vanity about the material.

The third act is the American TV thriller circuit, the dependable end of cable movie production: Zoe Gone, Stalked by My Neighbor, Family Vanished, all built to a formula and all needing a familiar, trustworthy face in the middle of them. It is not glamorous work and there is no shame in it either. Very few people from an early 1990s teen sitcom cast were still getting hired a quarter of a century later.

Where to start with Kelly Packard

California Dreams is the honest starting point if you want the version of her people remember, a teen sitcom exactly as light as it sounds and pleasant company. Baywatch is the bigger credit and the smaller performance; watch an episode for the artefact value. Boy Meets World is a guest spot on a much better written show.

After that it depends on your mood: Fear Factor and Pet Star are the presenting and personality years, while Stalked by My Neighbor and Family Vanished are the TV thrillers, competently made and entirely predictable, which is the whole appeal of that shelf. Freakish is the outlier, a teen horror series in which she plays a mother, and the strangest thing on the page.
