Kenichi Suzumura
Kenichi Suzumura is an actor, born 1974.
Most Japanese voice actors are employed by an agency. Kenichi Suzumura owns the one that employs him: he founded INTENTION in March 2012 and serves as its representative. He was working long before that, with an early credit as Morley in Macross 7, and he works as a narrator and singer as well as an actor. The catalog holds well over two hundred credits for him.
The striking thing about the list is not its size but its stubbornness. He does not pass roles on. He has voiced Obanai Iguro in the Demon Slayer television series and in every film spun out of it, from the 2020 Mugen Train picture through the 2024 Hashira training compilation and the 2025 Infinity Castle feature. He carried Mikiya Kokutou across four separate Garden of Sinners films in 2007 and 2008. Atsushi Murasakibara in Kuroko's Basketball ran from the 2012 series to the Last Game feature five years later. That kind of continuity is a working reputation, not a lucky break.
Across genres he moves freely: Hikaru Hitachiin in Ouran High School Host Club, Sougo Okita in Gintama, Lavi in D.Gray-man, Rogue Cheney in Fairy Tail, Takehisa Hinawa in Fire Force, Zack in Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children. He also sings, and belongs to a novelty unit formed with six other voice actors including Junichi Suwabe. His younger brother Masaki Suzumura works on the other side of the same industry as a stuntman and stunt coordinator.

Where to start with Kenichi Suzumura
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba is the path of least resistance and there is no shame in taking it, since Obanai Iguro is the role currently doing the most work on his behalf, and the film run from Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Movie: Mugen Train onward keeps him in play.
For the wider range, three shows do more. Ouran High School Host Club is a school comedy that asks for a lighter, faster register than the shonen work does. Gintama gives him a deadpan comic timing the action series rarely want. Kuroko's Basketball sits between the two.
Game and film people should go to Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children, where he voices Zack, a role he has carried across the wider Final Fantasy VII material for years. If you want the quieter end of what he does, the Garden of Sinners films are the place, starting with The Garden of Sinners: Overlooking View, and Fire Force is the best of the recent ensemble work.
The signature roles
Obanai in Demon Slayer, Sougo in Gintama and Hikaru in Ouran are the three most people name, and between them they cover almost the whole range from sadist to comic foil.
The Demon Slayer films
Four features continuing the same role across the franchise's cinema run, which in Japan has broken box-office records repeatedly and made Obanai one of the most recognisable supporting characters in the series.
The quiet work
The Garden of Sinners films give him Mikiya, an ordinary man standing next to something enormous, and it is the best acting on his record by a distance.
The sports and shonen leads
A long run in the ongoing action series, which is where a voice actor of his generation spends most of a working life. Blue Lock and Fire Force are the two with the widest current audience.
