Lance Hoyt
Lance Hoyt is an actor, born 1977.
Lance Hoyt has worked under four names, which tells you most of what you need to know about professional wrestling as a career. He is Lance Archer now, in All Elite Wrestling as part of the Don Callis Family. He was Vance Archer in WWE, and both Lance Rock and plain Lance Hoyt in TNA. Born in Austin, Texas, in 1977, he has been at this long enough to be repackaged for three different companies and to survive it each time.
The work that built the reputation happened in Japan. Two runs as IWGP United States Heavyweight Champion in New Japan Pro-Wrestling is a genuine credential rather than a line on a resume, and it says the promotion trusted a foreign heavyweight in a slot that carries its own history. American television has never quite found the same use for him.
His screen credits are largely the broadcast record of the day job. All Elite Wrestling: Dynamite and All Elite Wrestling: Collision are the weekly shows, AEW Double or Nothing 2020 the pay-per-view, All Elite Wrestling: Battle of the Belts the specials. The only straight acting credit is a wrestler part in Disclosure Day, which is about as far as this particular crossover usually travels.

Where to start with Lance Hoyt
There is no film here worth starting with, so start with the wrestling. All Elite Wrestling: Dynamite is where the current Lance Archer character lives, and it is the quickest way to find out whether the act works on you: a very large man booked as a physical problem for smaller wrestlers to solve.
All Elite Wrestling: Collision is the same thing in a different slot. AEW Double or Nothing 2020 is the pay-per-view version, where matches run longer and the booking is more deliberate, so it flatters him more than the weekly shows do. New Japan Pro Wrestling is the important one for anyone who wants to understand the reputation, because the title runs happened there and Japanese heavyweight booking suits him better than American television has. Disclosure Day is a novelty.
