Larissa Wilson

Larissa Wilson is an actor, born 1989.

Skins was built to replace its entire cast every two years, which means each generation gets judged as a unit, and Wilson belongs to the first one, the group people still argue is the best. She played Jal Fazer across those opening two series, the stretch that established the show's method of taking teenagers seriously while letting them behave appallingly.

The rest of the screen career is short. She was in the school horror comedy Tormented in 2009, the children's science fiction serial The Sparticle Mystery, and guest slots across the standard British rotation: Holby City, Kingdom, The Town, Trollied, Suspects. She also works as a director, which is a more interesting turn than another decade of guest parts would have been.

Where to start with Larissa Wilson

Skins is the whole reason to be here, and specifically its first two series, which is where she is. Watch it knowing it has aged into a period piece: the clothes are 2007 and so is the moral framing, and it is still the most convincing British teen drama anyone has made.

Tormented is the curiosity, a school-set horror comedy considerably nastier than its poster suggests, and it gives her more to do than a supporting slot usually allows. The Sparticle Mystery is children's television made with the odd seriousness British children's science fiction used to insist on, and worth an hour if you have a nine-year-old to entertain.
