Laura Wright
Laura Wright is an actor, born 1970.
Daytime television is its own industry, with its own scale and its own arithmetic, and Laura Wright has spent her career near the top of it. She played Allison Rescott on Loving and its continuation The City, then Cassie Layne Winslow on Guiding Light, and since then Carly on General Hospital, the role that made her a fixture. She won the Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series in 2011 for that part, and has collected six further nominations in the same category.
The arithmetic is worth stating plainly, because it explains the skill. Daytime shoots at a pace prime time never sees: pages a day rather than a week, dialogue learned overnight, emotional peaks landed on the first or second take. Wright is very good at the specific thing that demands, playing a large feeling at speed without letting it look hurried, and keeping one character coherent across many years of writers with different ideas about who she is.

Where to start with Laura Wright
There is one obvious destination and no reason to pretend otherwise. General Hospital is where Wright plays Carly and where the award-winning work lives. The practical problem is that the show has been running since 1963 and nobody starts at the beginning, so pick a storyline from her tenure, or start with a recent season and let the history fill itself in, which is how daytime has always been watched anyway.
The City is the historical curiosity, a shorter-lived serial where she played Ally, worth a look mostly for how different the register was.
