Lina Esco
Lina Esco is an actor, born 1985.
Esco's first acting job was Kelly in London in 2005, and recognition came two years later playing the daughter of Jimmy Smits's character on the CBS drama Cane. That is an ordinary television start. What she did with it was less ordinary, because she spent the following decade splitting her attention between other people's productions and her own.
Free the Nipple in 2014 is the pivot. She directed it, produced it and appeared in it, and the title became shorthand for a campaign, which is a rare afterlife for a small independent film. It also fixed her public identity as an activist at least as firmly as an actor, and the two have not really separated since.
The long job came later. From 2017 she played Christina Alonso on the CBS series S.W.A.T., a tactical-team drama that has given her far more screen time than anything else here, and the kind of steady procedural work that lets a performer build something slowly rather than in a single showcase scene. Around it sit smaller parts: Janice in LOL, Ava Flores on Kingdom, Kara on Flaked, Becky in Doors, Liberty in Wedding Swingers. Her most recent credit is Captain Jackie Velez in the Netflix film The Rip.

Where to start with Lina Esco
S.W.A.T. is the obvious entry, and the fair one. It is a broad network procedural, but Chris Alonso is the character the show kept writing real material for, and it is the only place you can watch Esco build a performance over years rather than scenes.
Free the Nipple is the essential companion piece, and it is worth seeing as a document rather than as a drama: rough, argumentative, and far more interested in the campaign than the plot. It also tells you more about her as a filmmaker than any acting credit does.
For the earlier work, Cane is the family saga that first put her on screen properly, London is her debut, and Kingdom is the best-made series in the group. The Rip is the newest thing, and LOL and Flaked are the lighter footnotes.
