Madeline Miller is an author.
Madeline Miller is an American novelist who taught Latin and Greek for a decade while writing her first book. That book, The Song of Achilles (2011), tells the story of Achilles and Patroclus and won the Orange Prize for Fiction, making Miller only the fourth debut novelist to take it. Circe followed in 2018, giving the witch of the Odyssey several thousand years of her own life to account for. She received an Alex Award in 2019. Two novels and a short story is a small body of work, and she has been unusually careful with all of it.

Where to start with Madeline Miller
The Song of Achilles is the one to read first, and the one people press on friends: the Iliad told from Patroclus's side, patient for two hundred pages and then merciless. Circe is the better novel, slower and angrier, a minor goddess given a whole life and no rescue. Galatea is a short story you can read in twenty minutes, and the nastiest thing she has written.
