Maggie Roswell
Maggie Roswell is an actor, born 1952.
Four women in Springfield share one performer. Maggie Roswell has voiced Maude Flanders, Helen Lovejoy, Miss Hoover and Luann Van Houten on The Simpsons since 1989, plus a long tail of minor parts, and the work brought her an Annie Award nomination. Between them those four supply most of Springfield's respectable disapproval, and hearing them inside a single episode is the best argument going for what character voice work actually is.
She is not only a voice actress. She is credited as a comedian, writer and producer, and her on-camera work runs from Donna the team leader in Midnight Madness through Mrs. Dietz in Pretty in Pink to Fae in Switchback and Ellie Hastings in Silver City. The animation work outside Springfield is broader than most people realise too: Teegra in the 1983 fantasy Fire and Ice, Caitlin in the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon, a villain on Animaniacs, Bobby's World.
The Simpsons connection remains her working life. She reprised Helen Lovejoy for The Simpsons Movie and continues to appear in the recent Simpsons pieces, including O C'mon All Ye Faithful and the 2026 Simpsley, and she voiced Mary Poppins in May the 12th Be with You.

Where to start with Maggie Roswell
There is only one honest starting point, and it is The Simpsons. Pick any classic-era episode with a church scene or a Flanders subplot and you will hear two or three of her characters in the same twenty minutes without noticing they are the same person.
The Simpsons Movie is the concentrated version, and the recent shorts The Simpsons: O C'mon All Ye Faithful and Simpsley show she is still doing it.
For the work away from Springfield, Fire and Ice is the genuine oddity, an early 1980s animated fantasy where she voices Teegra, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is the other big animation credit. On camera, Pretty in Pink is the one you have already seen without knowing she was in it, and Switchback is the small dramatic part worth digging up.
