Melia Kreiling

Melia Kreiling is an actor, born 1990.

Melia Kreiling was born in Geneva and has built her career mostly in television, in the sort of supporting roles that keep a series moving without ever being the reason it exists. Her most-seen work is a single early scene as Bereet in Guardians of the Galaxy in 2014, the woman Peter Quill has forgotten is still aboard his ship, a very small part in a very large film and the reason plenty of people recognise her face without attaching a name to it.

The substantial work is on television. She played Alycia Stavros in the second season of Salvation in 2017, after roles on Tyrant and The Last Tycoon. Emily in Paris used her as Sofia across its third and fourth seasons, a character written to complicate the show's central romance. Mammals in 2022 and the period drama So Long, Marianne in 2024, where she plays Barbara, are the more interesting recent entries. The feature list, meanwhile, is thin: Company of Heroes in 2013 and the science fiction picture MindGamers in 2015 are both small genre films that came and went. There is a working actress here with a decent television resume and, so far, no single role that defines her.

Where to start with Melia Kreiling

There is no obvious flagship, so pick by appetite rather than importance. Emily in Paris is the largest audience she has had and the most representative use of her: poised, slightly unreadable, dropped into a show to unsettle a couple that everyone else is rooting for.

So Long, Marianne is the one to seek out if you want her doing something with more weight, a period drama with an actual interior. Mammals is the odd, prickly British series and rewards patience. Salvation gave her the closest thing to a co-lead in a network disaster thriller that is sillier than it thinks. Guardians of the Galaxy is the credit everyone has seen, and her part in it is over almost before it starts, so watch it for the film rather than for her. MindGamers is skippable.
