Nao Toyama
Nao Toyama is an actor, born 1992.
Toyama debuted in 2010 and was carrying a series within a year: Kanon Nakagawa, the idol lead of The World God Only Knows, which is not among the credits listed here. She came up through Arts Vision and now works out of the agency Intention, and like most of her generation she releases music alongside the booth work.
The casting she gets most often is the bright, forward girl who turns out to be holding everyone else together. Chitoge Kirisaki in Nisekoi is all volume and threat until she is not. Yui Yuigahama in My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU keeps being kind in a show that treats kindness as a strategic error. Chiho Sasaki in The Devil Is a Part-Timer! is the ordinary human anchoring a cast of demons. What keeps this from being one performance repeated is that the brightness never sounds automatic: Toyama lets a line hesitate for half a beat before the cheer arrives, so you hear the effort behind it.
Her best work goes the other way. Rin Shima in Laid-Back Camp is a girl who would rather be alone at a campfire, played almost entirely in downshifts, warmth arriving late and quietly. Nozomi Kasaki in Sound! Euphonium and Liz and the Blue Bird is a sadder, more guarded version of the same restraint.
The credit list runs well past a hundred roles, from comic relief to leads in shows nobody remembers. The 13th Seiyu Awards in 2019 gave her a Best Supporting Actress prize, shared with Yu Serizawa, along with the Game Award. She is still front-line work: Aoi Sakamoto in Sakamoto Days arrived in 2025.

Where to start with Nao Toyama
Start with Laid-Back Camp. It is the least typical thing she does and the best argument for her, because Rin has to convey an entire friendship through reluctance and the performance lives almost entirely in the pauses.
Then go to the loud end. My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU gives her Yui, the warmest person in a series built to punish warmth, and Nisekoi gives her Chitoge, the same energy with none of the sadness underneath. The Devil Is a Part-Timer! is the pure comedy setting.
For the serious register, Liz and the Blue Bird is the one: a chamber piece about two girls who cannot say what they mean, and she is on the harder side of it. Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai sits between the two modes. Suma in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba is pure comic panic, nobody's reason for watching, and she is plainly having fun with it.
The romantic comedy leads
The register the industry casts her in most: bright, loud and hiding something. Yui in My Teen Romantic Comedy Snafu is the best-written of these and the one where the hiding actually gets addressed.
The quiet roles
The opposite pole, and the more interesting work. Rin in Laid-Back Camp barely speaks and is beloved for it, which is genuinely hard to voice, and the Kyoto Animation films give her the most delicate material.
The action and fantasy
The genre work, generally as the competent one who is not the protagonist. The High Elf Archer in Goblin Slayer is the most fun of them, and the recent shonen work keeps her in constant rotation.
