Norman Reedus
Norman Reedus is an actor, born 1969.
Norman Reedus, born in Florida in 1969, came to acting from modelling, and for a decade the acting looked like a sideline. He had a cult following before he had a career: The Boondock Saints in 1999 flopped, then found an enormous afterlife on video, and Murphy MacManus made him a face people recognised without being able to say what else he had been in. The answer was mostly independents, with Mimic, Dark Harbor, Beat, Octane and Deuces Wild in the mix, and occasional studio work as Scud in Blade II and a one-scene detective in American Gangster.
The reason The Walking Dead turned him into a fixture is that Reedus does not explain himself. He acts below the line: a shoulder, a delay before answering, a look held two beats past comfortable. Daryl Dixon started as a minor tough and became the show's centre of gravity across twelve years, and the performance works because Reedus withholds the emotional information the writing keeps offering him. Very few television actors can carry that much silence.
The flip side is that the persona now does a lot of the work. He has been inside one character since 2010, continuing into The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon from 2023, and it has spread outward into other media: Sam Porter Bridges in the Death Stranding games, Striker in Helluva Boss, and the AMC travel series Ride with Norman Reedus. When he steps outside it, as in The Bikeriders, you notice both how well the leather-and-motorcycles image fits and how narrow the lane has become. Triple 9 and Ballerina use him the same way, as texture with a reputation attached.

Where to start with Norman Reedus
The Walking Dead is unavoidable and it is also the right answer. Daryl is barely in the first season and then quietly annexes the show, and watching that happen in real time is more interesting than any of his films.
When you want the origin, The Boondock Saints explains the fanbase: a scrappy, badly behaved crime picture that should not work and does, at least for the ninety minutes you are inside it. Blade II is the best of the studio bit-parts, Mimic is the earliest one worth your time, and Triple 9 puts him in a serious ensemble where he holds his own. For recent evidence that he can still surprise, The Bikeriders gives him a small, funny, weather-beaten character actor turn. The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon is for people who already miss the character.
