Regé-Jean Page
Regé-Jean Page is an actor, born 1988.
One season. That is the entire length of Page's run on Bridgerton, the 2020 series that made him internationally famous, and walking away from it remains the most interesting decision of his career so far.
Before that he was working steadily and unglamorously: Dean in Fresh Meat, a stint on the BBC's Waterloo Road, Robert Purvell in the thriller Survivor, then Chicken George in the 2016 remake of Roots, which is the first credit that asks anything serious of him. For the People followed on ABC, running from 2018 to 2019, with Page as Leonard Knox.
What he has is an old-fashioned quality that is rarer than it should be: he holds the centre of a frame without appearing to work at it, and he can play formality without going stiff. Simon Basset lands because Page treats a romance-novel duke as a man with an interior life rather than as a costume with a jawline.
Since leaving, the film work has been steady without being defining. Carmichael in The Gray Man, Xenk in Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, where the film is smart enough to make his total sincerity the joke, Colonel James Stokes in the 2025 spy piece Black Bag, and Captain Khora in Mortal Engines before any of it. He has You, Me & Tuscany due in 2026. What he is still waiting for is a film role that does for him what one season of television already did.

Where to start with Regé-Jean Page
Watch Bridgerton first, and stop when he does. It remains the only thing that has used him properly, a lead performance in a show that could easily have coasted on frocks, and he plays the duke as though the emotional logic matters.
Roots is the better piece of acting though, and the harder sit: Chicken George gives him real weight to carry and he does not flinch from it. After those two, Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves is the most fun he has been on film and Black Bag the most grown-up.
Skip Mortal Engines unless you are a completist, and treat The Gray Man as what it is, a large action film with room for him but no real use for him. Sylvie's Love is the small one worth seeking out.
