Rochelle Aytes
Rochelle Aytes is an actor, born 1976.
Modelling came first. Aytes made her film debut in White Chicks (2004) as Denise Porter and has spent the two decades since as one of the more reliably employed actors in American network drama. Lisa in Madea's Family Reunion (2006), Maria in Trick 'r Treat (2007), then a stretch of series work where the shows kept being cancelled around her: Drive in 2007 and The Forgotten across 2009 and 2010 were both short-lived, which is a hazard of the job rather than a verdict on her.
Mistresses gave her April Malloy and the closest thing to a signature role, running from 2013 to 2016. April is a widow holding a business and a complicated private life together at the same time, and Aytes plays her with more restraint than the genre usually rewards; the show reaches for melodrama and she keeps declining to supply it.
Since then she has played Nichelle Carmichael on S.W.A.T., a role that gives her the community-facing counterweight to a lot of kicked doors, and she voiced Rochelle in Left 4 Dead 2, which is how a large gaming audience knows her name without connecting the face. Recent television includes Michelle Moore in The Purge and Dr. Mary Morstan in Watson (2025). The through-line is competence. She is cast as the professional in the room, the person whose judgement the plot depends on, and she plays it without softening the edges.

Where to start with Rochelle Aytes
For the full performance, Mistresses is the place to go. April Malloy is the part with the most range in it, and the show hands her grief, business and romance inside a single episode without letting any of them flatten her into a type. If you want something tighter, Trick 'r Treat is a genuinely good Halloween anthology and worth your time regardless of the size of her role. White Chicks is the debut and still the credit most people have seen. S.W.A.T. is the steady recent job and the one that has given her the most screen time in years. Watson is the newest, and a medical framing suits her better than another detective's partner would. The Purge is for horror viewers only.
