Samantha Win

Samantha Win is an actor, born 1991.

Wushu came first. Win competed in taolu for Canada at international level between 2005 and 2008, including a Beijing tournament in 2008, and moved into screen work from there, a route far more common for stunt performers than for actors with credited roles.

Her screen debut was Kitana in the web series Mortal Kombat: Legacy, a part that asked for skills she already had. Man of Steel (2013) put her in armour as Car-Vex, one of Zod's soldiers, and Army of the Dead (2021) gave her the first substantial role of her career as Chambers, a member of the crew heading into a quarantined city.

Only three of her credits are linked here, which understates a working life that also includes a great deal of stunt work. Judge the acting on Army of the Dead, since it is the only one of the three that gives her scenes to play rather than moves to execute.

Where to start with Samantha Win

Three credits, so this is short. Army of the Dead is the one to watch: Chambers is a real part, she is given genuine action to play, and the character is the crew member the audience actually warms to.

Man of Steel is worth a look for the Kryptonian fight scenes, where the wushu background is doing visible work even under a helmet. Mortal Kombat: Legacy is a curiosity, a low-budget web series made for people who already love the games, and useful mainly as a record of where she started.
