Sean Devine
Sean Devine is an actor, born 1970.
Ottawa City Council has a working actor on it. Devine, born in Montreal in 1970, represents Knoxdale-Merivale Ward, and the politics is the third career rather than a replacement for the first two: he has written and directed for the stage for three decades and served as artistic director of a theatre company he co-founded. The screen work, more than twenty films and over a dozen series, is the visible half.
On camera he is cast as institutional furniture, and he is genuinely good at it. Sgt. Buchanan in The Whole Nine Yards, a paramedic in The Second Arrival, a jail guard in Bad Santa 2, a city postman in Fatman. Parts that size are pure tone: arrive with the authority of someone who does this every day, deliver the information, leave before the scene notices you were there. Get it wrong and the film wobbles for ten seconds.
The longer roles are the ones worth hunting down. He plays Jacob Miller in the boxing drama Knockout and Stephen Price across the mystery series The Disappearance, which gives a supporting actor something to sustain rather than a single beat to hit.

Where to start with Sean Devine
Begin with The Disappearance, since it is the only credit here that lets him build a character over hours rather than seconds. Stephen Price is a real part in a real mystery, and the register suits him.
The Whole Nine Yards is the widest-seen thing on the list, and his Sgt. Buchanan is a clean demonstration of the small-part craft: land the tone, get out. Pair it with Knockout if you want a second role with some weight.
The Christmas double is a curiosity worth the time. He turns up in both Bad Santa 2 and Fatman, two very different attempts at a mean-spirited holiday film, and the contrast between them is more interesting than either one alone. The 4400 is early-2000s science fiction and a minor stop, useful only if you are working through the list.
