Steven Michael Quezada
Steven Michael Quezada is an actor, born 1963.
For five seasons of Breaking Bad, Steven Michael Quezada was the man in the room behaving normally. As DEA agent Steven Gomez, the level headed partner to Hank Schrader, his job was to be competent, unbothered and mildly amused, which sounds easy until you notice how much of that show's tension depends on somebody in frame staying unhinged. He returned to the part in Better Call Saul.
He was born in Albuquerque in 1963 and the career has stayed anchored there in a way few working actors manage. The credits outside Breaking Bad are mostly genre films and independents: Spare Parts, First Snow, Outlaws and Angels, 3 from Hell, Fender Bender, the recent thriller Strange Darling.
The other half of the job is standup. He has toured comedy clubs, headlined the Laugh Factory and George Lopez's cruise line room, released a special called The New Mexican in 2022, and in December 2023 opened his own comedy club and cantina at the Santa Ana Star Casino. He is billed as a politician too, which puts him in a very small category of actor.

Where to start with Steven Michael Quezada
Breaking Bad is obviously the thing, and Gomez is a useful character to track on a rewatch: he is the audience's baseline, the measure of what an ordinary competent person would do at each stage of the story.
After that the pickings are honest rather than glamorous. Strange Darling is the best film on this list by a distance, a nasty, beautifully shot thriller told out of order. Spare Parts is the sincere one, an underdog story about a high school engineering team.
3 from Hell and Outlaws and Angels are for people who like their genre pictures grubby. No Half Measures: Creating the Final Season of Breaking Bad is the making of documentary, worth it if you want to hear the cast talk about that show while it was still fresh.
