Boxing came first and still defines the record. Victor Ortiz, an American fighter of Mexican descent, held the WBC welterweight title in 2011 and was rated among the world's top three active welterweights by The Ring, BoxRec and ESPN, which had named him its Prospect of the Year in 2008. His style was aggressive and built to please a crowd, which is roughly what film bought when it came calling.
The screen work is a short list of supporting parts that trade on the same physicality: Ramone in Southpaw, Mars in The Expendables 3, Chewy in Once Upon a Time in Venice and Manny in Avenge the Crows. Four credits, all of them from the 2010s and all in and around fighting and crime pictures. He is a fighter who acts rather than an actor, and this filmography is honest about that.

Southpaw is the sensible place to begin, since it drops him into a boxing film where his real trade is the point rather than a novelty.
The Expendables 3 is the biggest room he has been in, though the cast is enormous and the attention is divided accordingly. Once Upon a Time in Venice is the loosest and funniest thing here, and Avenge the Crows is the one that asks him for dramatic weight in a small independent picture. Start with the first, treat the rest as curiosity.
