Biscuit
Biscuit is a small yellow puppy and a giant of the early-reader shelf. Alyssa Satin Capucilli and illustrator Pat Schories designed the My First I Can Read books for the exact moment a child sounds out a sentence alone, using a tiny vocabulary, soft watercolors, and the gentle stall tactic of a puppy who never wants to go to bed.
The entries gathered here, from "Biscuit Goes Camping" and "Biscuit Takes a Walk" to "Biscuit and the Little Pup" and "Biscuit Loves Mother's Day," all run on the same comforting rhythm of small adventures and a happy return home. There is no ambition toward plot here, and that is correct. The series exists to make the first independent read feel safe and rewarding, and it does that job beautifully.
The Biscuit franchise spans 8 books in the CrossBinge catalog.
