Love Comes Softly
Adapted from Janette Oke's prairie-romance novels, the Love Comes Softly films became a cornerstone of faith-based family television, following a frontier community across generations of courtship, faith, and loss. The original 2003 film, in which a young widow enters a marriage of convenience, set the template the sequels expand outward and, later, backward.
The series is unusual for telling its story partly out of release order: the 2011 entries Love Begins and Love's Everlasting Courage are prequels that reach into the family's past. Two of Oke's source novels sit in this collection alongside the films, a reminder that the saga began on the page. Earnest and unhurried, it knows exactly the audience it is speaking to and never condescends to it.
The Love Comes Softly franchise spans 2 books, 9 films in the CrossBinge catalog.
