Total War: Warhammer reimagines the setting as sweeping grand strategy, Vermintide turns it into frantic cooperative survival, and Blood Bowl plays the whole thing for bloody satire as fantasy gridiron. A 40,000 animated film and a tie-in novel round it out. The common thread is a universe where there is no triumph without horrific cost, carried faithfully across wildly different genres.
