Charlie Cox Is Already Teasing a Second Save Daredevil Campaign

CrossBinge · 4 min read

Marvel told a New York Comic Con room last Thursday, October 8, that Daredevil: Born Again will end with its third season. The crowd booed. Charlie Cox, on stage with Krysten Ritter, answered with a line that was half a joke and half an invitation.

I imagine the Save Daredevil campaign will be gearing up for Round 2.

Fans have done this before

Netflix cancelled Daredevil on November 29, 2018, three seasons in. Fans did not take it quietly. A #SaveDaredevil petition went up, fans started writing letters to Disney, Cox urged people to sign it at ACE Comic Con in January 2019, and Vincent D'Onofrio gave it a push on Twitter. Early in 2019 the campaign paid for five minutes on two Times Square billboards over a lunch hour.

The show did come back, on Disney+ in March 2025, with Cox as Matt Murdock and D'Onofrio as Wilson Fisk. How much the petition had to do with it is harder to say. Wikipedia's history of the revival starts with Kevin Feige phoning Cox in June 2020. Fans remember it as a win anyway, and that memory is exactly what Cox was poking at.

Let this one end

We would sit Round 2 out. The first time, nobody planned a finale. Season 3 of the Netflix series became the last chapter by accident, and the characters were left mid-stride. This time the ending is known before the season airs, which means the people making it can write toward it.

The teaser shown at the panel, as described in /Film's live blog, looks like a show building to a last stand. Luke Cage, Jessica Jones and Danny Rand are together again. Matt is still in jail, Fisk and Bullseye are back, and a prison fight sits at the centre of it. A Matt Murdock story that closes with his friends coming for him in a cell is a better goodbye than any cancellation notice. Campaign for a fourth season and you risk trading a real ending for another loose thread.

Catch up before March 2027

Season 3 runs eight episodes and is slated for March 2027 on Disney+, where the Netflix Daredevil has streamed since March 2022. Here is the order:

1
Marvel's Daredevil
Seasons 1 and 2 first, season 3 after The Defenders. Cox and D'Onofrio are the pairing everything else rests on, and season 3 is the Netflix finale nobody knew was a finale.
2
Marvel's Jessica Jones
Optional. Season 1 is the best way to meet Krysten Ritter's Jessica before she walks into Born Again.
3
Marvel's The Defenders
Watch it between Daredevil's second and third seasons: the street-level team-up the Season 3 teaser reunites.
4
Daredevil: Born Again
Both Disney+ seasons, in order. Season 2 sets up the cell Matt is sitting in.

The Marvel show you can start this week

The same panel screened the whole first episode of VisionQuest, which premieres on Disney+ this Wednesday, October 14. Paul Bettany is back as Vision, joking on stage that he had been "hanging in a pub" since WandaVision, and James Spader returns as Ultron. Bettany has confirmed the series concludes a trilogy that began with WandaVision and continued through Agatha All Along. The thread to remember is the end of WandaVision, where the White Vision receives the original's memories and flies off. /Film's Jeremy Mathai called the premiere "awfully fun."

So here is our verdict on Daredevil. Watch the catch-up, save your outrage, and give Matt Murdock the ending the Netflix show never got. Start VisionQuest on Wednesday, October 14, while you wait.
