Deric Augustine is an actor, born 1990.
Playing Muhammad Ali is one of the least forgiving assignments an actor can accept, because the audience has the original on tape. Augustine, born in New Orleans in 1990, drew it early: his recurring role on Godfather of Harlem is billed as Cassius Clay, the fighter before the name change, which means playing the loud young version who has to be charming rather than mythic.
The rest reads as a working television decade. A small part on Marvel's Cloak & Dagger, a detective in the thriller Night Night, guest spots on Queen Sugar, The Vampire Diaries, Criminal Minds, Shameless and Swagger, then a longer run as Clay Taylor on the sports drama All American and as Jace on The Family Business: New Orleans. The steady job arrived with The Rookie, where he plays Miles Penn as one of the leads across its 2025 and 2026 seasons.
He also writes. In 2025 he published a young adult fantasy novel, Nawlins, which makes him the rare network procedural regular with a fiction bibliography running alongside the day job.

Where to start with Deric Augustine
Go to The Rookie first, since it is the only credit here that gives him sustained screen time: Miles Penn is a lead role in a long-running procedural, which is where you can actually judge an actor rather than a scene.
Godfather of Harlem is the more interesting watch. The part is smaller and the show is not about him, but playing the young Cassius Clay against a period crime drama forces a specific kind of performance, all bravado with the myth deliberately withheld.
After those two the list thins fast. Marvel's Cloak & Dagger gives him a couple of scenes in a superhero series that never quite settled, and Night Night casts him as a detective in a low-budget thriller, useful mainly if you want to see the earlier working version of him.
