Command & Conquer and The Covert Operations (2024)
Command & Conquer and The Covert Operations is a 2024 strategy video game made by Westwood Studios.
The one that started it all, packaged with its Covert Operations missions. You choose a side in the first Tiberium War: the blue-clad, order-keeping GDI or Kane's insurgent Brotherhood of Nod, and prosecute your campaign across grainy live-action briefings and top-down battlefields. Harvest Tiberium, raise a base, and grind the other faction into the dirt. Covert Operations bolts on a set of tougher, more devious standalone maps for players who already know the drill. This is the blueprint the whole real-time strategy boom was built on, mercenary tone and all.

A few thoughts on Command & Conquer and The Covert Operations
As a fellow late-90s PC landmark that reset what its genre could be, Half-Life makes a natural next stop even coming at it from a shooter's angle. Both are the games later designers spent the following decade answering, foundational in a way that still shows every time you sit down with them.
Covert ops and warfare with a twist
The Covert Operations pack leans into sabotage, ambush, and missions where cleverness beats brute force. These picks run on the same wavelength, from time-bending espionage to lone infiltrators slipping past armies. If outsmarting the enemy thrills you more than outgunning them, this is your briefing.
Dystopian sci-fi battlegrounds
The original Command & Conquer set two ideologies loose on a Tiberium-scarred world, and these titles carry the same charged, dystopian atmosphere. Warring factions, unsettling science, and worlds one bad decision from collapse define the mood. If Nod versus GDI hooked you, they will too.
Sprawling worlds to command and conquer
The first C&C is about seizing ground and holding it, and these open worlds hand you a whole map to master. Roam freely, plan your moves, and watch the terrain bend to your ambition, whether it is a war-torn nation or an open kingdom. Take command and go.
