Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman return as the Owens sisters, still bound to the family curse, in a sequel arriving twenty-eight years after the 1998 original. Dianne Wiest and Stockard Channing reprise their roles too, so the original quartet stays intact.

Susanne Bier directs from a screenplay by Akiva Goldsman, Georgia Pritchett and Kelly Marcel, adapted from The Book of Magic, Alice Hoffman's 2021 novel about the Owens family, rather than from an invented continuation. The new faces skew younger: Joey King, Maisie Williams, Xolo Maridueña, Lee Pace and Solly McLeod.
