Silent Hill: Origins (2007)

Silent Hill: Origins is a 2007 puzzle video game made by Climax LA and Konami Digital Entertainment.

Travis Grady is a truck driver who stops on the road outside Silent Hill one night and pulls a burning girl from a collapsing building. That act of impulse draws him into the town. Origins is a prequel set before the events of the original game, following Travis as he moves between the fog-soaked real town and its nightmarish mirror, fighting creatures that are unsettling distortions of the human form. Unlike earlier entries, Travis can pick up and throw his environment, and weapons break with use, forcing constant improvisation.

A few thoughts on Silent Hill: Origins

The 2006 Silent Hill film Silent Hill captures the same oppressive atmosphere and the disorienting shift between the real town and its ash-world double. It is the most faithful adaptation of the series' visual language and works as a companion piece to any of the games.

Survival in a world with broken rules

Travis Grady has no supernatural powers, just fists and whatever he can carry. These games put ordinary people against systems designed to destroy them.
