Harlan Coben Breaks Netflix Again
Another month, another Harlan Coben novel turned into a Netflix sensation. I Will Find You, which premiered June 18 with Sam Worthington and Britt Lower, drew 24 million views in its first four days and 131.7 million hours of watch time, making it the biggest new series debut of 2026. It hit the top ten in 92 countries and reached number one in 60 of them. The premise is pure Coben: a father imprisoned for murdering his young son escapes after evidence suggests the boy is alive.
This is the thirteenth Coben adaptation Netflix has produced under a deal to bring 14 of his novels to the screen, and the hit rate is the real story. Fool Me Once was Netflix's most-watched show of 2024, with roughly 98 million views in its first 90 days. Stay Close, The Stranger and Missing You all landed. The formula barely varies: an ordinary person, a buried secret, a twist roughly every 40 minutes, and a binge-friendly six to eight episodes. It should be exhausting by now. Instead it keeps topping the chart.
One honest caveat on the records. I Will Find You is the biggest new series debut of the year, not the biggest series week overall: returning juggernauts like Bridgerton and Stranger Things peaked higher. But for a self-contained thriller with no prior season to lean on, 24 million views in four days is a staggering number, and it explains why Netflix keeps writing Coben checks.
