Were the Clone Wars Made for Tactics?

2 min read

Star Wars Zero Company launches Thursday, August 27, with a better idea than making you the most powerful person in the galaxy. It makes you responsible for a squad.

This is a single-player, turn-based tactics game set during the Clone Wars. You command Hawks, a former Republic officer, alongside a customizable group of operatives. Star Wars needs stories in which relationships shape the plan, and tactics is the right genre for that job.

Electronic Arts says player choices alter the journey, while squad bonds unlock support abilities and statistical benefits. That is the most important promise attached to the game. Turn-based combat supplies the deliberation. The relationships give each formation a reason beyond efficiency.

Play Star Wars Zero Company if deliberate squad planning satisfies you, or if the texture of the Clone Wars is more appealing than another tour through its biggest legends. Skip it if turn-based combat feels like an obstacle between cinematic moments. Choose PC, PS5 or Xbox Series X/S and assemble Hawks's squad.
