Alien vs. Predator

Alien vs. Predator exists because two of cinema's great movie monsters were too good to keep apart. The matchup started in Dark Horse comics before reaching screens, and it has always been more of a fan dream-fixture than a coherent story engine.

Its most respected work is arguably interactive rather than cinematic. Monolith's Aliens versus Predator 2 and its Primal Hunt expansion built three radically different campaigns around the same battlefield: the terror of the outgunned Marine, the predatory rush of the Alien, and the trophy-hunting patience of the Predator. Rebellion later returned to that asymmetric idea with a 2010 reboot, echoing its own genre-defining 1990s work. The two films, AVP and Requiem, brought the crossover to a wider audience with a harder, pulpier tone. The throughline across every version is structural: two perfect killers, and the humans caught in between.
