Colin McRae
Named for the late Scottish driver who became the youngest World Rally Champion, the Colin McRae series set the standard for rally racing on consoles. Codemasters built it on punishing, weather-battered stages where a single misjudged corner ends a run, and on the co-driver's pace notes calling each bend before you can see it.
After McRae's death the series carried his name into the Dirt rebrand, which split in two directions: the showy, festival-styled arcade Dirt games and the stripped-back simulation of Dirt Rally, widely regarded as some of the most demanding rally driving ever modeled. Across both styles, the franchise kept rally's particular thrill of controlled chaos at speed.
The Colin McRae franchise spans 11 games in the CrossBinge catalog.
