Mad Max
Mad Max is George Miller's forty-year experiment in how much story you can tell with engines, leather, and almost no dialogue. It started as a lean Australian revenge thriller in 1979, then escalated with each film into pure kinetic opera, culminating in Fury Road, a two-hour chase that doubles as one of the great action films of its century. The wasteland it built, all scarcity, salvage, and feral car culture, defined a whole post-apocalyptic aesthetic.
The franchise lives almost entirely on screen, anchored by Max himself and later by the breakout figure of Furiosa, whose origin film reaches back before Fury Road. A 2015 open-world game let players actually drive that desert. The connective tissue is loose by design: Miller treats Max as a legend retold, not a fixed timeline.
The Mad Max franchise spans 1 games, 6 films in the CrossBinge catalog.
