Silent Hill

Silent Hill is Konami's argument that horror is about psychology, not monsters. Where its peers chased jump scares, this series built dread out of fog thick enough to hide the next street, a rusted Otherworld that bleeds through reality, and Akira Yamaoka's industrial scores that turn a hospital corridor into a panic attack. The fear is personal: the town manifests its visitors' guilt, so the real antagonist is usually the protagonist's own past.

The franchise splits into a revered run shaped by its original Japanese team and a later Western-developed stretch that divided fans. Beyond the games sit two feature films, a celebrated playable teaser, and a 2024 remake that reintroduced the series to a new audience. Few horror properties have a stronger atmosphere or a more uneven track record.

The Silent Hill franchise spans 15 games, 4 films in the CrossBinge catalog.
