Dune 2000: Long Live the Fighters! (1998)
Dune 2000: Long Live the Fighters! is a 1998 strategy video game made by Westwood Studios.
Arrakis is a desert planet worth killing for, and three noble houses want it all. Westwood rebuilt its own genre-founding Dune II here, handing you House Atreides, Harkonnen, or the merchant Ordos and a single mandate: harvest the spice. You send crawlers out across the dunes, guard them from rival raiders and the sandworms that swallow whole vehicles, and turn that income into refineries, factories, and armies. Between missions, live-action briefings pitch each house's schemes with scenery-chewing commanders. It is base-building at its most elemental, set in Frank Herbert's most famous sandbox.

A few thoughts on Dune 2000: Long Live the Fighters!
For the story that started the obsession with spice, House feuds, and Arrakis, see Dune: Part Three, the latest chapter of the film saga. If you came for the base-and-army rhythm, StarCraft took the same Westwood formula to a sharper, faster peak.
Real-time strategy that defined a genre
Dune 2000 helped lock in the harvest, build, and attack rhythm that ruled late-90s strategy, and these are the campaigns that carried it forward. Raise bases, tech up your army, and overrun the enemy across Warcraft III, StarCraft II, and both Age of Empires titles. If marshalling Harvesters across the sands clicked, the war machine rolls on here.
Warring houses and desert-power epics
Arrakis runs on spice, and whoever holds it holds the empire. That fight over one scarce prize drives these picks: the galaxy-spanning political war of Legend of the Galactic Heroes, the station-bound scheming of Babylon 5, and the battlefield gambits of Three Kingdoms. Dune: Part Three returns the feuding houses to the big screen.
Turn-based conquest for the patient commander
Trade the real-time scramble for measured, turn-by-turn command. Grow an empire across the ages in Civilization V and VI, capture provinces hero by hero in Heroes of Might and Magic III, or run tactical party combat in Baldur's Gate III. All reward the same instinct Dune 2000 sharpened: read the map, commit your forces, win the long war.
